NEW OXFORD

New Oxford is a quaint little town located alone route 30 in Adams County. This little town is know for its unique structures and the lively antique business that exists in the big old homes alone the main street.

In June there is a special day when they close the streets to incoming traffic and enjoy a flea market day with over a 100 vendors selling all kinds of items.  Most are antiques but some are craft items and of course food.

The unique round-a-bout is a circle in the middle of the town that has been made into a very small park-like setting.  Incoming traffic must yield to those on the right.  Drive slowly until you get the knack of what is going on.
If you would like to stop for something to eat or drink you may want to try one of my favorites.  The Oxford Inn Towne.  It has been turned into a kind of Irish pub and features very good food. There seafood is lovely.  Cold draft is also available to wet the whistle.

This town is known to love their school sports and I would bet there isn't a game that most of the town doesn't attend.  The school system in this area is Conewago Schools.
The volunteer fireman take their job very seriously and they are an active company in raising funds for the community events.

If you want to spend the night there are also a few Bed and Breakfast locations right in town that you will enjoy.  One is said to be haunted!  What a thrill!
There are about 20 golf courses within a small radius of this town with York being to the east and Gettysburg being to the west.
If you like the slow pace, this town may be for you.
